Objective: - To introduce students to the basic concepts and skills of gymnastics - To develop students’ coordination, balance, flexibility, and strength - To promote teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship
Materials: - Gymnastics mats - Cones or markers - Hula hoops - Scarves or ribbons - Music player - Stopwatch or timer
Warm-up (10 minutes): 1. Begin with a brief discussion about gymnastics, its history, and its benefits. 2. Lead the students through a dynamic warm-up routine, including stretches, jumping jacks, jogging in place, and arm circles.
Main Activities:

Balancing Act (15 minutes): - Set up a series of cones or markers in a straight line, about 1 meter apart. - Divide the class into pairs and have them stand facing each other, about 2 meters apart. - Instruct one student from each pair to walk along the line of cones while balancing a bean bag or a small ball on their head. - The other student will act as a spotter, ensuring their partner’s safety and providing assistance if needed. - After each student completes the task, they will switch roles and repeat the activity.

Tumbling Fun (20 minutes): - Create a circuit of different tumbling stations using gymnastics mats. - Stations can include forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, and handstands. - Divide the class into small groups and assign each group to a station. - Provide clear instructions and demonstrate each skill before allowing the students to practice. - Rotate the groups through the stations, allowing enough time for each student to practice and receive feedback.

Ribbon Dance (15 minutes): - Distribute scarves or ribbons to each student. - Play lively music and guide the students through a simple dance routine, incorporating movements such as twirls, waves, and jumps. - Encourage creativity and self-expression while dancing with the ribbons. - Emphasize the importance of rhythm, coordination, and body control.
Cool-down (10 minutes): - Lead the students through a series of static stretches, focusing on the major muscle groups used during the lesson. - Encourage deep breathing and relaxation to help the students cool down and recover.
Closure: - Gather the students together and ask them to share their favorite activity from the lesson. - Recap the key concepts and skills they learned during the class. - Emphasize the importance of practice, perseverance, and safety in gymnastics. - Encourage the students to continue exploring and enjoying gymnastics in their free time.
