One possible back-to-school first class math activity could be a “Math About Me” activity.

Instructions: 1. Give each student a blank sheet of paper and ask them to fold it into four equal sections. 2. Instruct the students to write their name at the top of the paper. 3. In each section, ask the students to write down a different math-related fact about themselves. For example: - In the first section, they can write down their favorite number and explain why they chose it. - In the second section, they can write down a math problem they enjoy solving and provide the solution. - In the third section, they can write down a real-life situation where they have used math and explain how they used it. - In the fourth section, they can write down a math goal they have for the school year. 4. Once the students have completed their “Math About Me” sheets, have them share their answers with a partner or in small groups. 5. As a class, discuss some of the interesting facts and goals that students shared.

This activity not only helps students get to know each other but also allows them to reflect on their own math skills and goals for the school year. It can also serve as a starting point for discussing math concepts and problem-solving strategies.
