Romania was not directly controlled by the Ottoman Empire. However, parts of modern-day Romania, such as Wallachia and Moldavia, were under Ottoman suzerainty and paid tribute to the Ottoman Empire. These regions had a certain degree of autonomy but were still influenced by Ottoman rule.
