Job Description: Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Nurse

Position Summary: The Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to mothers and children in a hospital setting. They will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure the well-being and safety of patients. The nurse will utilize their educational background and work experience to deliver high-quality care and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Provide direct patient care to mothers and children, including prenatal, postnatal, and pediatric care. 2. Assess patients’ health status and develop individualized care plans based on their needs. 3. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians. 4. Monitor patients’ vital signs, observe any changes in their condition, and report to the healthcare team. 5. Educate patients and their families on various aspects of maternal and child health, including breastfeeding, nutrition, and hygiene. 6. Assist in the delivery of babies and provide immediate care to newborns. 7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, midwives, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care. 8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, progress notes, and discharge summaries. 9. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. 10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of evidence-based nursing practices. 11. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during challenging times. 12. Stay updated on the latest advancements in maternal and child health care through continuing education and professional development.

Qualifications and Requirements: 1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Additional certifications in maternal and child health care are preferred. 2. Licensure: Valid nursing license in the state of practice. 3. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in maternal and child health care, preferably in a hospital setting. 4. Knowledge: Strong understanding of maternal and child health care principles, practices, and procedures. Familiarity with relevant medical equipment and technology. 5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. 6. Compassion: Empathetic and compassionate approach towards patients and their families. 7. Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess patients’ conditions and make appropriate decisions. 8. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. 9. Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. 10. Flexibility: Willingness to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, including rotating shifts and weekends.
