Job Description: Maintenance Staff in Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospitals
Position: Maintenance Staff Department: Facilities Management Reports to: Facilities Manager
Job Summary: The Maintenance Staff is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of all facilities and equipment within the Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospitals. They will perform a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and repair of the hospital’s infrastructure, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general maintenance duties. The Maintenance Staff will work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Conduct regular inspections of the hospital’s facilities and equipment to identify maintenance needs and repair issues. 2. Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, repairing plumbing leaks, and fixing electrical outlets. 3. Respond promptly to maintenance requests from hospital staff and prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance. 4. Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and maintenance services. 5. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment inventory. 6. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols while performing maintenance tasks. 7. Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and facilities as needed. 8. Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to minimize downtime and extend their lifespan. 9. Monitor and maintain the hospital’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal performance. 10. Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance-related issues and provide support as required. 11. Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices in maintenance and facilities management to enhance job performance.
Qualifications and Experience: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Proven experience in general maintenance work, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting. 3. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other maintenance systems. 4. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints. 5. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 8. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects. 9. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes. 10. Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
