Job Description: Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Medical Technician

Position Summary: The Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Medical Technician is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to healthcare professionals in the delivery of maternal and child healthcare services. They will perform a variety of tasks related to patient care, laboratory procedures, and administrative duties to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital.

Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Patient Care: - Assist healthcare professionals in providing care to pregnant women, new mothers, and children. - Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and assist with medical procedures as directed. - Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families regarding healthcare procedures and treatments. - Ensure patient safety and comfort during their stay at the hospital.

  1. Laboratory Procedures: - Collect and process specimens for laboratory testing, including blood samples, urine samples, and other bodily fluids. - Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood glucose monitoring, urinalysis, and pregnancy tests. - Maintain accurate records of laboratory results and communicate findings to healthcare professionals. - Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and biohazard waste.

  2. Administrative Duties: - Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records systems. - Schedule appointments, coordinate patient referrals, and manage patient flow. - Assist with billing and insurance claims processing. - Order and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment. - Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications and Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Completion of a recognized Medical Technician program or equivalent education and work experience. - Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in maternal and child health. - Knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and patient care techniques. - Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Proficient in using electronic medical records systems and basic computer applications.
