Job Description: Midwife in Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospitals

Position: Midwife Department: Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Reports to: Head of Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Department

Job Summary: The midwife is responsible for providing comprehensive care to pregnant women, mothers, and newborns in the Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospitals. They will work closely with the medical team to ensure the well-being of patients and provide support throughout the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum period. The midwife will also educate patients on prenatal and postnatal care, breastfeeding, and newborn care.

Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Provide antenatal care to pregnant women, including regular check-ups, monitoring fetal development, and addressing any concerns or complications. 2. Conduct deliveries and assist in childbirth, ensuring the safety and well-being of both the mother and the newborn. 3. Provide postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including monitoring their health, providing breastfeeding support, and addressing any postpartum complications. 4. Educate patients on prenatal and postnatal care, including proper nutrition, exercise, and self-care during pregnancy. 5. Conduct newborn assessments, including physical examinations, vital sign monitoring, and screening for any abnormalities or health issues. 6. Provide counseling and support to mothers and families on family planning, contraception, and reproductive health. 7. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, and lactation consultants, to ensure comprehensive care for patients. 8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, assessments, and treatment plans. 9. Stay updated on the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in maternal and child health care. 10. Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills in midwifery.

Qualifications and Experience: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or a related field. 2. Valid license to practice as a midwife. 3. Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a midwife in a healthcare setting. 4. In-depth knowledge of prenatal, childbirth, and postnatal care. 5. Familiarity with medical equipment and procedures used in maternity care. 6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and their families. 7. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment. 8. Strong organizational and time management skills. 9. Compassionate and empathetic approach towards patients. 10. Proficiency in medical record-keeping and documentation.
