Job Description: Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Pharmacist
Position Summary: The Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Pharmacist is responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients in the hospital’s maternal and child health care units. They work closely with the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective medication use for pregnant women, new mothers, and children. The pharmacist’s role includes dispensing medications, providing drug information, monitoring patient medication therapy, and participating in clinical decision-making.
Responsibilities and Duties: 1. Dispensing Medications: - Reviewing medication orders and prescriptions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness. - Preparing and dispensing medications in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. - Labeling and packaging medications for individual patients. - Ensuring proper storage and handling of medications.

Education and Training: - Providing education and training to healthcare providers, nurses, and other hospital staff on medication-related topics. - Participating in the orientation and training of new pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students. - Mentoring and supervising pharmacy students and residents during their rotations in maternal and child health care.
Qualifications and Experience: - Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution. - Valid pharmacist license in the state or country of practice. - Previous experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting, preferably in maternal and child health care. - Knowledge of medications commonly used in maternal and child health care, including prenatal vitamins, antibiotics, analgesics, and pediatric formulations. - Familiarity with relevant guidelines and regulations, such as those from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and their families. - Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Continuous professional development and commitment to staying updated on the latest advancements in pharmacy practice.
