Job Description: Maternal Health Care & Child Health Care Hospital Director
The Hospital Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the maternal health care and child health care departments within the hospital. They are responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to pregnant women, new mothers, and children. The Hospital Director works closely with the medical staff, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of the departments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the maternal health care and child health care departments, in line with the hospital’s overall mission and goals.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including those related to patient safety and quality of care.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the medical and nursing staff within the departments, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of staff within the departments.
- Monitor and evaluate the delivery of healthcare services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments and external stakeholders to coordinate and integrate services for pregnant women, new mothers, and children.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and agencies to enhance the hospital’s maternal and child health programs.
- Manage the budget for the maternal health care and child health care departments, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in maternal and child health care, and incorporate them into the hospital’s programs and services.
- Represent the hospital at meetings, conferences, and other events related to maternal and child health care.
Duties:
- Oversee the provision of prenatal care services, including regular check-ups, screenings, and education for pregnant women.
- Ensure the availability of obstetricians, gynecologists, and other specialists to provide specialized care for high-risk pregnancies.
- Coordinate the delivery of labor and delivery services, ensuring the availability of trained staff and necessary equipment.
- Supervise the postpartum care provided to new mothers, including breastfeeding support, postnatal check-ups, and mental health services.
- Oversee the provision of pediatric care services, including well-child visits, immunizations, and treatment of common childhood illnesses.
- Ensure the availability of pediatric specialists, such as pediatricians and neonatologists, to provide specialized care for children with complex medical conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided within the departments, implementing quality improvement initiatives as needed.
- Collaborate with the hospital’s marketing and communications team to promote the hospital’s maternal and child health services to the community.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes related to the hospital’s overall operations and growth.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports related to the maternal health care and child health care departments.
Educational and Work Experience Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably in maternal and child health care.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards related to maternal and child health care.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems and other healthcare technology.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in maternal and child health care.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
