Title: Investigating Photosynthesis Objective: Students will have a better understanding of photosynthesis and the role it plays in the lives of living organisms Materials: Books, computers, worksheets
Warm-Up Activity (10 minutes):
Students will work in pairs to answer the following questions on a piece of paper:
- What is photosynthesis?
- What is the role of photosynthesis?
- What makes photosynthesis possible?
Main Activity (25 minutes):
-
Students will use their textbooks or computers to research information on photosynthesis.
-
Students will then complete a worksheet which includes the following questions:
- What is the role of sunlight in photosynthesis?
- How do plants use the energy they receive from photosynthesis?
- What gases are present during the photosynthesis process?
- Students will discuss the answers to the questions with their partners and then discuss their answers with the class.
Closure (5 minutes):
- Students will summarize the main points of their research:
- Photosynthesis is a process where plants use energy from the sun, carbon dioxide from the air, and water from the ground to create food.
- The energy created by this process is used for growth and maintaining life.
- Photosynthesis is essential for all living things as it produces the oxygen we need to breathe.
- Ask the students if they have any questions about the lesson.
