Subject: 9th Grade Science

Lesson: Experimenting with Bernoulli’s Principle

Objective: Students will learn and identify Bernoulli’s Principle as illustrated through a hands-on experiment. They will analyze their results and answer questions related to their findings.

Materials: - 2 plastic bottles - String - Pen - Rulers - Scissors - Water

Procedure: 1. Give each student one plastic bottle and a pen. 2. Instruct them to draw a line around the bottle at the top third. 3. Cut along the line. 4. Cut a 2-inch piece of string, then tie it around the neck of the bottle’s top part. 5. Turn the top part upside down and fill the bottom part with water. 6. Suspend the top part by the string and observe.

Questions: 1. What do you observe? 2. What is the principle at work here? 3. What is Bernoulli’s Principle and how does it explain the experiment? 4. How does the air pressure in the bottle affect the water pressure? 5. What could happen if the plastic bottle is replaced with an open-ended container? 6. In what ways can Bernoulli’s Principle be implemented in everyday life?
