Activity: The Resurrection of Jesus
Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others.
Introduction: Begin by introducing the topic of the resurrection of Jesus. Explain that Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead three days later. This event is celebrated every year on Easter Sunday.
Activity 1: Storytelling Read the story of the resurrection of Jesus from a children’s Bible or tell the story in your own words. Encourage the children to ask questions and share their thoughts and feelings about the story.
Activity 2: Role Play Divide the children into small groups and assign each group a role to play in the story of the resurrection. For example, one group could be the disciples who found the empty tomb, another group could be the women who went to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body, and another group could be the Roman soldiers who guarded the tomb. Encourage the children to act out their roles and discuss how they felt during the story.
Activity 3: Art and Crafts Provide the children with materials to create their own Easter cards or decorations. Encourage them to include symbols of the resurrection, such as the empty tomb, the cross, or the butterfly. Discuss the meaning of these symbols and how they relate to the story of the resurrection.
Activity 4: Sharing and Caring Encourage the children to share their artwork with each other and discuss what they have learned about the resurrection of Jesus. Discuss the importance of caring for and sharing with others, just as Jesus cared for and shared with his disciples and followers.
Conclusion: End the activity by summarizing the story of the resurrection and reminding the children of the importance of caring for and sharing with others. Encourage them to continue learning about the teachings of Jesus and how they can apply them in their daily lives.
