Activity: Esther, the New Queen

Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others.

Introduction: Introduce the story of Esther, the new queen, to the children. Explain that Esther was a brave and kind woman who helped her people when they were in trouble. Ask the children if they have ever helped someone who was in trouble.

Activity 1: Dress Up Provide the children with costumes and props to dress up as characters from the story of Esther. Encourage them to act out the story and take turns playing different roles. This will help them to understand the story and develop their imagination and creativity.

Activity 2: Sharing and Cooperation Divide the children into small groups and provide them with a set of blocks or other building materials. Explain that they must work together to build a tower or structure. Encourage them to take turns and share the materials, and to help each other if someone is struggling. This will help them to understand the importance of cooperation and sharing.

Activity 3: Fairness and Unfairness Provide the children with a set of cards with different scenarios on them. For example, one card might say “You find a toy on the playground. What do you do?” Encourage the children to discuss the scenarios and decide what is fair and unfair. This will help them to develop their understanding of fairness and justice.

Conclusion: Gather the children together and ask them to share what they have learned from the activities. Encourage them to think about how they can apply these lessons in their own lives, such as by helping others, sharing with their friends, and being fair and just.
