Activity: John the Baptist is Born

Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others.

Introduction: Begin by introducing the story of John the Baptist’s birth to the children. Explain that John the Baptist was a very important person in the Christian religion and that his birth was a special event. Ask the children if they have ever heard of John the Baptist before.

Activity: 1. Role Play: Divide the children into groups and assign each group a role to play in the story of John the Baptist’s birth. One group can be Mary, another group can be Elizabeth, and another group can be the angels. Encourage the children to act out the story and use their imaginations to bring the story to life.

  1. Sharing and Caring: After the role play, ask the children to reflect on the story and discuss how the characters showed care and concern for each other. Ask them to think about how they can show care and concern for others in their own lives.

  2. Art Activity: Provide the children with materials to create their own artwork depicting the story of John the Baptist’s birth. Encourage them to be creative and use their imaginations to create their own unique interpretation of the story.

  3. Cooperative Game: Play a cooperative game with the children, such as “Pass the Parcel” or “Musical Chairs”. Encourage the children to work together and help each other to succeed in the game.

Conclusion: Wrap up the activity by asking the children to share what they have learned about caring for and cooperating with others. Remind them that these are important values in the Christian religion and in life in general. Encourage them to continue to practice these values in their daily lives.
