Activity: David Saves Mephibosheth

Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others.

Introduction: Begin by introducing the story of David and Mephibosheth. Explain that David was a king in the Bible and Mephibosheth was the son of David’s friend Jonathan. Mephibosheth was disabled and David showed him kindness and took care of him.

Activity: 1. Role-play: Divide the children into pairs. One child will be David and the other will be Mephibosheth. David will help Mephibosheth by carrying him on his back and taking him to a safe place. Encourage the children to take turns being David and Mephibosheth.

  1. Sharing: Provide the children with a basket of toys and ask them to share the toys with each other. Encourage them to take turns and share the toys equally.

  2. Cooperation: Divide the children into groups of three or four. Provide each group with a puzzle and ask them to work together to complete the puzzle. Encourage them to communicate and cooperate with each other.

Conclusion: Gather the children together and ask them to share what they have learned from the story of David and Mephibosheth. Ask them to reflect on how they can show kindness, care, and cooperation towards others. End the activity with a prayer thanking God for the gift of friendship and for teaching us to care for and share with others.
