Activity: Peter is saved by an Angel
Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others.
Introduction: Begin by introducing the story of Peter and the Angel. Explain that Peter was a follower of Jesus and was put in prison for preaching about him. However, an Angel came to rescue him and helped him escape. Ask the children if they have ever heard this story before.
Activity: 1. Role-play: Divide the children into groups of three. One child will play the role of Peter, one will play the role of the Angel, and the third will be the prison guard. Encourage the children to act out the story and switch roles so that everyone gets a chance to play each character.
-
Sharing and Caring: Discuss with the children how the Angel helped Peter and how Peter was able to escape. Ask the children to think about a time when they needed help and someone came to their rescue. Encourage them to share their stories with the group.
-
Cooperation: Divide the children into pairs and give each pair a puzzle to solve. Encourage the children to work together to solve the puzzle. Once they have completed the puzzle, ask them to share with the group how they were able to work together to solve it.
-
Fairness: Discuss with the children the concept of fairness. Ask them to think about a time when they felt something was unfair. Encourage them to share their stories with the group and discuss how they could have made the situation fairer.
Conclusion: Wrap up the activity by discussing the importance of caring for, sharing, and cooperating with others. Remind the children that just like the Angel helped Peter, we should also help others when they need it. Encourage the children to continue to develop their understanding of fairness and to always strive to be fair in their interactions with others.
