Activity: The Good Samaritan Story

Desired Outcome: As I play and learn, I am developing my understanding of what is fair and unfair and the importance of caring for, sharing and cooperating with others. I am also learning to listen to rules.

Introduction: Begin by introducing the story of the Good Samaritan to the children. Explain that it is a story from the Bible that teaches us about being kind and helping others.

Activity: 1. Divide the children into small groups and give each group a set of pictures that tell the story of the Good Samaritan. 2. Ask the children to work together to put the pictures in the correct order. 3. Once the pictures are in order, read the story aloud to the children. 4. After the story, ask the children to discuss what they learned from the story. Encourage them to talk about the importance of helping others and being kind. 5. Next, explain to the children that they will be playing a game that will help them practice listening to rules and working together. 6. Set up an obstacle course in the classroom or outside. The course should include various challenges such as crawling under a table, jumping over a pillow, and walking on a balance beam. 7. Explain the rules of the game to the children. They must work together as a team to complete the obstacle course. They must listen to the rules and take turns helping each other through the challenges. 8. Encourage the children to cheer each other on and offer help when needed. 9. Once the obstacle course is completed, ask the children to discuss how they felt working together as a team. Did they listen to the rules? Did they help each other? How did it feel to work together? 10. Finally, remind the children of the story of the Good Samaritan and how it teaches us to be kind and help others. Encourage them to continue to practice these values in their daily lives.

Conclusion: End the activity by thanking the children for their participation and reminding them of the importance of caring for, sharing, and cooperating with others.
