Introduction:
Today we are going to create some wonderful pieces of artwork! We are going to explore our creativity and use a variety of media to express our ideas.
Lesson outline:
- Introduce the concept of art and discuss different types of art media and techniques.
- View a variety of examples of artwork created by early childhood artists.
- Let the children explore the range of materials and choose what they like to work with.
- Show children how to use the materials they have chosen and explain the basics of colour mixing and how to use the tools correctly.
- Provide children with blank art paper to create their masterpiece.
Questioning:
Throughout the lesson, the teacher should ask questions to encourage the children to think about: - What type of art do they want to create? - What colours would they like to use? - What techniques could they use to create their masterpiece?
Assessment:
Throughout the lesson, the teacher can observe the children’s progress and evaluate their engagement, understanding of the lesson, and use of the materials. The teacher can also create a display with the artwork created by the children as assessment evidence.
Differentiation:
For children with additional needs, the teacher can provide additional support and make adaptations to the lesson as needed. For example, the teacher could provide guidance or demonstrate the activity for children who need extra help.
Plenary:
At the end of the lesson, the children can view their artwork. The teacher can ask questions about their work, such as “What colours did you use?” or “What inspired you to create this piece?”.
