Objective: Students will be able to greet each other in English.

Materials: Greetings Cards (Hello, Hi, Good morning, etc.), Word Cards with English Greetings

Procedure:

  1. Teacher introduces the lesson by showing the various cards with different English greetings and asks students to name each card. This can be done in pairs if there is a large class.

  2. Next, Teacher introduces basic phrases such as “Hello,” “Hi,” and “Good morning,” while explaining each one and showing pictures of the phrases on the board.

  3. To practice, students start in pairs, greeting each other in English. Teacher should encourage students to try saying the phrases in a loud, clear voice.

  4. Next, Teacher can create a game where all students stand in a circle and pass the greeting cards around while saying the phrases as they pass it. If a student makes a mistake they are given another chance.

  5. As a group, Teacher explains the importance of greetings in English, such as how it is polite to say “hello” when greeting someone.

  6. Finally, Teacher asks each student to approach one other student and greet each other in English for a final practice.

Closure: The lesson can end with Teacher asking all of the students to stand up and greet each other in English as a class.
