Lesson:
- Introduction (5 minutes):
Explain to the students that today they will be discussing the issue of whether or not children spend too much time using technology. Ask the students to brainstorm some of the pros and cons of children spending too much time using technology. Write the students’ ideas on the board.
- Video (10 minutes):
Show the students the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6U_hSbrMDo. Ask the students to take notes on the video and to think about how it relates to the issue of children spending too much time using technology.
- Discussion (15 minutes):
Divide the students into small groups and ask them to discuss the pros and cons of children spending too much time using technology. Ask the students to come up with some solutions to the problem.
- Handout (10 minutes):
Give the students a handout with a discursive essay structure. Explain to the students that they will be writing a discursive essay on the topic of children spending too much time using technology.
- Writing (20 minutes):
Give the students time to write their discursive essay. Ask the students to share their essays with the class and discuss their ideas.
- Conclusion (5 minutes):
Ask the students to summarize the main points of the lesson. Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned and how they can apply it to their own lives.
