First Day of School Lesson Plan for Grade 6 Children
Objective: To build a sense of community among students and help them get to know the teacher.

Lesson Plan:
- Introduction (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and introduce yourself.

- Icebreaker Activity: “Two Truths and a Lie” (10 minutes)

- Write down their ideas on the whiteboard or chart paper.
- Collaboratively create a classroom pledge using their ideas, emphasizing respect, kindness, and cooperation.
- Once the pledge is complete, have each student sign it as a commitment to uphold these values throughout the year.
- Display the signed pledge in the classroom as a reminder.
- Getting to Know the Teacher: “Teacher Trivia” (5 minutes)
- Prepare a worksheet with trivia questions about yourself.
- Distribute the worksheets to the students and give them a few minutes to complete it individually.
- Collect the worksheets and go over the answers as a class, sharing interesting facts about yourself.
- This activity helps students learn more about you and creates a fun and engaging atmosphere.
- Closure: “One Word Reflection” (5 minutes)
- Ask each student to think of one word that describes how they feel after their first day of school.
- Allow a few students to share their words and briefly explain why they chose them.
- Thank the students for their participation and enthusiasm.
- Remind them of the classroom expectations and upcoming activities.
