Title: Exploring Fables and Beasts in Wolf Notes

Objective: To introduce Primary 6 students to the concept of fables and beasts through the book Wolf Notes by Lari Don.

Materials: - Copies of Wolf Notes by Lari Don - Whiteboard and markers - Pictures of different beasts and fables - Sticky notes - Pencils

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin by asking the students if they have ever heard of fables or beasts. Write their responses on the whiteboard. 2. Explain that fables are stories that teach a lesson, often using animals as characters. Beasts are animals that are often portrayed as powerful or mysterious in stories. 3. Introduce the book Wolf Notes by Lari Don and explain that it is a collection of fables and stories about beasts. 4. Ask the students to make predictions about what they think the book will be about.

Activity 1: Fable Hunt (20 minutes): 1. Divide the students into small groups. 2. Give each group a picture of a different fable (e.g. The Tortoise and the Hare, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Ant and the Grasshopper). 3. Ask the groups to read the fable and discuss the lesson it teaches. 4. Have each group present their fable and lesson to the class. 5. Write the lessons on the whiteboard and discuss how they can be applied in real life.

Activity 2: Beast Bingo (20 minutes): 1. Give each student a bingo card with pictures of different beasts (e.g. dragon, unicorn, werewolf, griffin). 2. Show pictures of the beasts on the whiteboard and ask the students to mark off the ones they have on their bingo card. 3. Once a student has a full row, they can shout “Beast Bingo!” and explain what they know about the beast they have marked off. 4. Discuss the different characteristics of the beasts and how they are portrayed in stories.

Activity 3: Create Your Own Fable (20 minutes): 1. Give each student a sticky note and a pencil. 2. Ask them to think of a lesson they want to teach and draw a picture of an animal that could represent that lesson. 3. Have the students share their pictures with the class and explain the lesson they are trying to teach. 4. Encourage the students to write a short story or fable based on their picture.

Conclusion (10 minutes): 1. Recap the different activities and concepts covered in the lesson. 2. Ask the students what they learned about fables and beasts. 3. Encourage the students to read Wolf Notes by Lari Don and explore more fables and beasts on their own.
