Title: Diphthong Dash

Objective: To identify and differentiate between different diphthongs in English words.

Materials: Whiteboard, markers, flashcards with words containing diphthongs, timer.

Instructions:

1. Divide the class into two teams of two players each.

2. Draw a track on the whiteboard with the starting line on one end and the finish line on the other.

3. Each team will take turns picking a flashcard with a word containing a diphthong.

4. The team will then have to identify the diphthong in the word and say it out loud.

5. If the team correctly identifies the diphthong, they can move their game piece (a small object like a coin or a button) one space forward on the track.

6. If the team is unable to identify the diphthong, they must stay in the same spot.

7. The other team will then take their turn.

8. The first team to reach the finish line wins the game.

9. To make the game more challenging, a timer can be set for each turn, and the team must identify the diphthong within a certain amount of time.

10. The game can be played multiple times with different sets of flashcards to reinforce the learning of diphthongs.
