High atop a rocky hill sat an imposing castle shrouded in mystery. Its granite walls were more than two storeys high, composed of smooth grey stone that seemed to gleam faintly in the moonlight. The entire structure was shrouded with ivy and moss, giving it an air of ancient wisdom and power, and lending it a magical majesty that belied its true nature.

The squat turrets and balconies were thickly embroidered with intricate carvings that told of days gone by, and the tall towers, which had been designed at the time of construction, were crowned with ornate banners that proudly proclaimed the castle’s lineage.

It was said that the castle had long been inhabited by a family of wizards who, despite their solitary nature, had done much to shape the history of the region. Tales of their exploits and magical powers had been passed down through the ages, and although much of their power had dwindled with time, it was still insufficient to destroy the mysterious aura that pervaded the castle.

At night, strange lights could be seen coming from within the walls, and eerie cries and sounds emanated from the towers and halls. No one ever dared approach the castle and the locals shied away from it in fear. Those who heeded the warnings kept their distance and the secrets of the castle were never revealed.

The castle rested peacefully on the hill for centuries, neither tamed nor conquered, forever in a mystery that no one will ever be able to penetrate.
