Lesson Plan:

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin the lesson by asking students what they understand by the term “creative writing.” Write their responses on the whiteboard or chart paper. 2. Explain that creative writing is a form of self-expression that allows individuals to use their imagination and create original stories, poems, or plays. 3. Share examples of famous creative writing pieces, such as short stories or poems, to inspire students and generate interest.

Lesson 1: Elements of Creative Writing (20 minutes): 1. Introduce the essential elements of creative writing: plot, character development, setting, and dialogue. 2. Engage students in a discussion about the elements, asking them to identify examples from their favorite books or movies.

Lesson 2: Writing Prompts and Brainstorming (30 minutes): 1. Distribute handouts with various writing prompts to each student. 2. Explain that they will choose one prompt and spend a few minutes brainstorming ideas related to the prompt. 3. Encourage students to think creatively and write down as many ideas as possible. 4. Provide support and guidance to students with special needs by offering additional prompts or allowing them to work in pairs.

Lesson 3: Drafting and Revising (40 minutes): 1. Instruct students to choose one idea from their brainstorming session and begin drafting their creative writing piece. 2. Emphasize the importance of including the elements discussed earlier (plot, character development, setting, and dialogue). 3. Encourage students to write freely without worrying about grammar or spelling at this stage. 4. After completing the first draft, ask students to revise their work by focusing on clarity, coherence, and adding descriptive details. 5. Provide individualized feedback and support to students with special needs, offering suggestions for improvement.

Lesson 4: Peer Editing and Feedback (30 minutes): 1. Arrange students in pairs or small groups. 2. Instruct them to exchange their drafts and provide constructive feedback to their peers. 3. Provide a rubric or checklist for students to evaluate their peers’ work based on the elements of creative writing. 4. Encourage students to offer specific suggestions for improvement and praise each other’s strengths. 5. Monitor the peer editing process and provide assistance to students with special needs as necessary.

Lesson 5: Sharing and Presenting (20 minutes): 1. Allocate time for students to share their revised creative writing pieces with the class. 2.
