Climate change is defined by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as “a long-term shift in average weather conditions, including temperature, precipitation, snow and ice cover, and extreme events.” Now let’s try to apply this definition to our Star Wars lesson.

Let’s think about how climate change might show up in the Star Wars universe. For example, a planet like Tatooine is known for its extremely hot temperatures and harsh living conditions. If a climate shift were to occur on Tatooine, the people and creatures living there would have to adjust in order to survive.

Another example could be found in the ice planet Hoth. The creatures living there such as the Tauntauns, Wampas, and snowtroopers, as well as the Rebel Alliance stationed on the planet, would all have to adapt to possible changes in temperature and levels of snow and ice.

In order to survive climate change, we need to be proactive and reduce our carbon emissions by reducing our consumption of fossil fuels, switching to renewable energy sources, and decreasing waste and pollution. These are steps we can take in order to make a positive difference in our world.

Now you have a better understanding of climate change and how it may affect different parts of the Star Wars universe. We can all make a difference in the fight against this global phenomenon. You have the power to make the world a better place!
