Learning Intention: Identify coins and notes to £10.
Activity: The students each get a tray with a variety of coins and notes – a few of each type making it up to a total of £10. They then need to identify each of the coins and notes that are in the tray. They organise them into the correct categories e.g. coins into 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p etc. and notes into £5, £10.
Stations: The students are given a card with a selection of images of coins and notes. They have to identify each one and highlight the note and write down the total value of the selection on the back of the card. They then put this card into a shoe box.
Plenary: The students are going to all sit in a circle and then they will each pick out one card from the shoe box. They then have to identify the coins and identify the total value of the coins and notes. This will then be repeated until all the cards have been used.
