Introduction (5 minutes): - Greet the students and introduce the topic of the lesson: common business terms and phrases. - Explain the importance of understanding and using these terms in professional settings. - Discuss the relevance of effective communication in business.
Vocabulary Presentation (15 minutes): - Present 20 common business vocabulary words on the whiteboard (e.g., profit, revenue, negotiation, deadline, etc.). - Provide definitions and examples for each term. - Encourage students to take notes and ask questions for clarification.
Phrase Presentation (15 minutes): - Present 10 common business phrases on the whiteboard (e.g., “Let’s touch base,” “I’ll get back to you,” “We’re on the same page,” etc.). - Explain the meaning and appropriate usage of each phrase. - Model the pronunciation and encourage students to repeat after you.
Exercises (20 minutes): Exercise 1: Fill in the Blanks (5 minutes) - Distribute handouts with sentences containing gaps. - Instruct students to fill in the gaps with the appropriate business vocabulary words. - Review the answers as a class.
Exercise 2: Match the Phrase (5 minutes) - Distribute handouts with a list of phrases and their meanings. - Instruct students to match the phrases with their corresponding meanings. - Review the answers as a class.
Exercise 3: Role Play (5 minutes) - Divide the students into pairs. - Provide each pair with a scenario related to a business situation. - Instruct students to use at least three of the phrases learned in the lesson during their role play. - Monitor and provide feedback on their usage of the phrases.
Exercise 4: Create a Dialogue (5 minutes) - Instruct students to work individually and create a short dialogue using at least five of the vocabulary words and two of the phrases. - Encourage creativity and realistic usage of the terms and phrases. - Ask a few students to share their dialogues with the class.
Conclusion (5 minutes): - Recap the main points covered in the lesson. - Emphasize the importance of practicing and using these terms and phrases in real-life business situations. - Encourage students to continue expanding their business English vocabulary.
