Lesson Title: Plural Nouns

Objective: Students will be able to identify and use plural nouns correctly in sentences.

Materials: - Whiteboard and markers - Plural noun flashcards - Worksheets with sentences to practice plural nouns

Introduction: Begin the lesson by asking students if they know what a noun is. Write the definition of a noun on the board: a person, place, thing, or idea. Then, ask students if they know what a plural noun is. Explain that a plural noun is a noun that refers to more than one person, place, thing, or idea.

Direct Instruction: 1. Explain that most plural nouns are formed by adding -s to the end of the singular noun. For example, one cat becomes two cats. 2. Show the students the plural noun flashcards and ask them to identify the singular and plural forms of each noun. 3. Explain that some nouns have irregular plural forms. For example, one child becomes two children. 4. Write some examples of irregular plural nouns on the board and ask students to identify the singular form. 5. Explain that some nouns have the same singular and plural form. For example, one sheep becomes two sheep. 6. Write some examples of nouns with the same singular and plural form on the board and ask students to identify them.

Guided Practice: 1. Give each student a worksheet with sentences that contain singular nouns. Ask them to rewrite the sentences using the correct plural form of the noun. 2. Walk around the classroom and provide assistance as needed.

Independent Practice: 1. Ask students to write five sentences using plural nouns correctly. 2. Collect the sentences and provide feedback.

Closure: Review the lesson by asking students to share one thing they learned about plural nouns. Remind them to use plural nouns correctly in their writing and speech.
