Procedure:

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes):
    • Greet the students and engage in a brief conversation about their interests or recent activities.
    • Ask the students if they have ever read an article in English and what they found interesting or challenging about it.
  2. Introduction to Article Writing (10 minutes):
    • Present the concept of article writing and its purpose, which is to inform, persuade, or entertain readers.
    • Discuss the typical structure of an article, including the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion.
    • Explain the importance of using appropriate vocabulary, grammar, and cohesive devices to make the article coherent and engaging.
  3. Analyzing Sample Articles (15 minutes):
    • Distribute sample articles to the students.
    • In pairs or small groups, ask the students to read and analyze the articles, focusing on the structure, language use, and overall effectiveness.
    • Facilitate a class discussion, allowing students to share their observations and opinions about the articles.
  4. Article Writing Tips and Guidelines (10 minutes):
    • Provide handouts with article writing tips and guidelines, including suggestions for brainstorming, organizing ideas, and proofreading.
    • Highlight the importance of using appropriate language for the target audience and maintaining a clear and concise writing style.
    • Discuss the dos and don’ts of article writing, such as avoiding slang, using formal language, and providing evidence or examples to support claims.
  5. Writing Practice (20 minutes):

    • Collect the final drafts of the articles.
  8. Sharing and Reflection (10 minutes):
    • Allow a few students to volunteer to read their articles aloud to the class.
    • Encourage the class to provide positive feedback and constructive criticism.
    • Facilitate a brief reflection session, asking the students to share their experiences and challenges in writing the article.
  9. Wrap-up and Homework (5 minutes):
