Procedure:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes)
    • Begin the lesson by asking students how they feel today and why.
    • Discuss the importance of recognizing and understanding emotions.
    • Explain that today’s lesson will focus on social-emotional learning and developing skills to manage emotions effectively.
  2. Emotion Exploration (15 minutes)
    • Introduce different emotions using emotion cards.
    • Display each card and ask students to share situations that might make them feel that way.
    • Discuss how emotions can affect our behavior and interactions with others.
    • Encourage students to share personal experiences related to different emotions.
  3. Empathy and Understanding (15 minutes)
    • Explain the concept of empathy and its importance in understanding others’ emotions.
    • Provide examples of situations where empathy can be demonstrated.
    • Divide students into pairs or small groups.
    • Distribute scenario cards and ask students to discuss how they would feel in those situations and how they think others might feel.
    • Have each group share their thoughts with the class.
  4. Effective Communication (15 minutes)
    • Discuss the importance of effective communication in expressing emotions and resolving conflicts.
    • Explain the difference between assertive, aggressive, and passive communication styles.
    • Provide examples of each communication style and discuss their consequences.

    • Divide students into small groups and ask them to brainstorm possible solutions.
