Lesson Plan: Letter Ff

Grade Level: 3 years

Objective: Students will be able to recognize and identify the letter Ff, understand its sound, and practice writing it.

Materials Needed: - Flashcards with pictures of objects starting with the letter Ff - Whiteboard and markers - Letter Ff worksheets - Scissors, glue, and construction paper for craft activity

Warm-up (5 minutes): - Begin the lesson by playing a game of “I Spy” with the students, focusing on objects that start with the letter Ff. For example, say “I spy with my little eye something that starts with the sound ‘f’.” Encourage students to guess the object and make the “f” sound.

Introduction (10 minutes): - Show the flashcards with pictures of objects starting with the letter Ff to the students. Ask them to identify the objects and make the “f” sound. Repeat the sound together as a class. - Write the letter Ff on the whiteboard and explain that it is the letter we will be learning about today. Discuss the sound it makes and ask students if they can think of any words that start with the letter Ff.

Main Teaching (15 minutes): - Introduce the letter Ff using a multisensory approach. Have students trace the letter Ff on the whiteboard with their fingers while saying the sound out loud. - Practice saying the sound of the letter Ff together as a class. Encourage students to exaggerate the sound and make it loud and clear. - Use the whiteboard to write a few simple words that start with the letter Ff, such as “fish,” “frog,” and “flower.” Have students repeat the words and practice making the “f” sound.

Activity (10 minutes): - Distribute the letter Ff worksheets to each student. Instruct them to trace the letter Ff and color the pictures that start with the letter Ff. Walk around the classroom to provide assistance and guidance as needed.

Craft (10 minutes): - Provide each student with a piece of construction paper, scissors, and glue. - Instruct the students to cut out pictures from magazines or draw their own pictures of objects that start with the letter Ff. They can then glue these pictures onto the construction paper to create a collage. - Encourage students to label their pictures with the letter Ff.

Homework (5 minutes): - Assign students to find and bring in an object from home that starts with the letter Ff. They can share their objects with the class during the next lesson.

Plenary (5 minutes): - Review the letter Ff and its sound with the students. Ask them to share one word that starts with the letter Ff and make the sound together as a class. - Recap the main points of the lesson and ask if there are any questions or concerns.

Note: The duration of each section can be adjusted based on the attention span and needs of the students.
