Lesson Plan: Marvelous Me (Ages 4)

Theme: Marvelous Me - Exploring and Celebrating Our Unique Qualities

Objective: To help children develop a positive self-image and celebrate their unique qualities through hands-on activities.

Grouping: Three groups (Group A, Group B, Group C) based on the children’s abilities and needs.

Materials Needed: - Chart paper and markers - Construction paper - Scissors - Glue sticks - Magazines or printed pictures - Mirrors - Playdough - Various art supplies (crayons, markers, colored pencils) - Picture books about diversity and self-acceptance

Monday: All About Me Collage

Group A: 1. Introduce the theme “Marvelous Me” and explain that everyone is unique and special. 2. Provide each child with a piece of construction paper, scissors, glue sticks, and magazines or printed pictures. 3. Instruct them to cut out pictures or words that represent things they like or things that make them special. 4. Help them glue the pictures onto their construction paper to create an “All About Me” collage.

Group B: 1. Provide pre-cut pictures or words that represent different interests or qualities. 2. Assist the children in gluing the pictures onto their construction paper to create their “All About Me” collage.

Group C: 1. Provide pre-made collages with spaces for the children to add their own pictures or words. 2. Assist the children in adding their personal touches to the collages.

Tuesday: Mirror Self-Portraits

Group A: 1. Give each child a mirror and encourage them to observe their facial features. 2. Provide them with art supplies and guide them in drawing a self-portrait using the mirror as a reference.

Group B: 1. Provide pre-drawn face outlines for the children to color and decorate. 2. Encourage them to add details that resemble their own facial features.

Group C: 1. Provide pre-drawn face outlines for the children to color and decorate. 2. Assist them in adding details that resemble their own facial features.

Wednesday: Playdough Creations

Group A: 1. Provide each child with playdough and encourage them to create something that represents themselves or their interests. 2. Encourage them to share their creations with the group and explain why it represents them.

Group B: 1. Provide playdough and suggest specific objects or symbols for the children to create. 2. Assist them in creating their chosen objects and encourage them to share their creations with the group.

Group C: 1. Provide playdough and pre-made models for the children to decorate and personalize. 2. Assist them in adding their personal touches to the models.

Thursday: Diversity Art

Group A: 1. Read a picture book about diversity and self-acceptance. 2. Discuss the different characters and their unique qualities. 3. Provide art supplies and encourage the children to create a drawing or painting that celebrates diversity.

Group B: 1. Read a picture book about diversity and self-acceptance. 2. Provide coloring sheets featuring diverse characters and encourage the children to color them.

Group C: 1. Read a picture book about diversity and self-acceptance. 2. Provide coloring sheets featuring diverse characters and assist the children in coloring them.

Friday: Sharing Our Marvelous Qualities

Group A, B, and C: 1. Gather the children in a circle and provide each child with a piece of chart paper and markers. 2. Ask them to draw or write one thing they like about themselves or one special quality they possess. 3. Encourage them to share their drawings or writings with the group, explaining why they chose that quality.

Note: Throughout the week, ensure that each group receives appropriate support and guidance based on their abilities and needs.
