Introduction: 1. Gather the children in a circle and begin by asking them about their families. Encourage them to share who is in their family and what they like to do together. 2. Explain that today, they will be learning about how their families impact their future relationships with others.
Activity 1: Different Relationships (15 minutes) 1. Read a picture book that showcases different types of relationships, such as friendships, siblings, and parent-child relationships. 2. After reading, ask the children to share what they noticed about the different relationships in the book. 3. Draw a large circle on the paper or whiteboard and write “Family” in the center. Ask the children to name different relationships they have, such as friends, teachers, and neighbors. 4. Write down their responses around the circle, connecting them to the “Family” in the center. Discuss how these different relationships are connected to their families.
Activity 2: Values Learned in Family (15 minutes) 1. Show the children pictures of different family activities, such as eating together, helping each other, or playing games. 2. Ask the children to identify the values they think are important in these activities, such as love, sharing, or kindness. 3. Provide each child with construction paper, glue sticks, and scissors. Ask them to create a collage or drawing that represents the values they have learned from their families. 4. Encourage the children to share their creations and explain the values they have chosen.
Activity 3: Me in a Relationship (15 minutes) 1. Play a song about friendship or family relationships. 2. Ask the children to dance or move around the room while the music plays. 3. When the music stops, ask the children to find a partner and sit down together. 4. Provide each pair with a piece of paper and markers or crayons. Ask them to draw a picture of themselves with their partner, showing how they can be kind or helpful to each other. 5. After they finish drawing, ask the children to share their pictures with the whole group and explain how they can be good friends or partners.
Conclusion: 1. Gather the children back in a circle and review what they have learned about family impact on future relationships. 2. Ask the children to share one thing they will remember from today’s lesson. 3. Encourage the children to think about their families and the values they have learned when interacting with others.
