Introduction: Welcome to our lesson on Estimation and Rounding. Estimation and Rounding can help us to make rough calculations more quickly, without having to do the full version each time. This will help you in lots of everyday activities like working out how much something might cost or how long it might take to travel somewhere.

Lesson Outline: 1. Explain and illustrate why estimation and rounding is useful 2. Show examples from everyday life of when we can use estimation and rounding 3. Explain the concepts of greater than and less than in relation to estimation and rounding 4. Guide the children through Estimation and Rounding activities with step by step solutions 5. Work through some Estimation and Rounding worksheets

Questioning: 1. What is an example of when we use estimation and rounding in everyday life? 2. What does it mean when something is greater than an amount? 3. What does it mean when something is less than an amount? 4. How can you use estimation and rounding to make calculations easier?

Assessment: To assess your understanding of the lesson, the class will complete the Estimation and Rounding worksheet which can be found here.
