Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin the lesson by discussing the topic of holiday ornaments. Ask the students if they have ever seen or made holiday ornaments before. 2. Show the students a variety of holiday-themed images and ornaments to stimulate their creativity and imagination. 3. Explain that today, they will have the opportunity to create their own holiday ornaments using art and design techniques.
Activity 1: Designing Holiday Ornaments (30 minutes): 1. Provide each student with a piece of construction paper or cardstock and ask them to fold it in half to create a card-like shape. 2. Instruct the students to choose one or more holiday-themed images that inspire them from the provided images or their own ideas. 3. Encourage the students to draw their chosen image(s) on the front of their card using colored pencils, markers, or crayons. 4. Once the drawing is complete, allow the students to cut out their design carefully. 5. Provide the students with decorative materials such as glitter, sequins, beads, etc., and encourage them to embellish their ornaments as desired. 6. Assist the students in attaching a string or ribbon to their ornaments, creating a loop for hanging.
Activity 2: Sharing and Reflecting (15 minutes): 1. Once the students have completed their holiday ornaments, gather them in a circle or display them on a designated area. 2. Allow each student to share their ornament with the class, explaining the inspiration behind their design and any thoughts or feelings they wanted to express. 3. Encourage the students to ask questions and provide positive feedback to their peers. 4. Facilitate a brief discussion about the different ideas, thoughts, and feelings expressed through the ornaments.
Conclusion (5 minutes): 1. Summarize the lesson by emphasizing the importance of expressing and communicating ideas, thoughts, and feelings through art and design. 2.
