Introduction: Begin the lesson by introducing the topic of passing and receiving a pass in sports. Explain to the students that passing is an essential skill in many sports, including soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Tell them that today’s lesson will focus on improving their passing and receiving skills.
Warm-up: Start the warm-up by having the students jog around the gym or field for a few minutes to get their blood flowing. Then, have them pair up with a partner and stand about 10 feet apart. One student will throw a ball to their partner, who will catch it and throw it back. Encourage the students to use proper technique when throwing and catching the ball, such as using two hands and keeping their eyes on the ball.
Main Activity: For the main activity, play a game of “Keep Away” with the students. Divide the class into two teams and have them stand on opposite sides of the gym or field. The objective of the game is for one team to keep possession of the ball while the other team tries to intercept it. The team with possession of the ball must pass it to their teammates and move around to avoid getting tagged by the other team. If a player from the other team tags them, they must give up possession of the ball. The game continues until one team reaches a predetermined number of points or until time runs out.
Cool Down: End the lesson with a cool-down activity to help the students relax and stretch their muscles. Have them sit in a circle and take turns leading the group in a stretching exercise, such as touching their toes or reaching for the sky. Encourage them to take deep breaths and focus on relaxing their bodies.
Assessment: Observe the students during the game of “Keep Away” to assess their passing and receiving skills. Take note of their technique, accuracy, and ability to work as a team. Provide feedback and encouragement to help them improve their skills.
