Grade Level: 8th Grade Subject: Filipino (Katangian Pisikal ng Daigdig)

Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and describe the physical characteristics of the Earth in Filipino language.

Motivation: Show the students a picture of the Earth from space and ask them to describe what they see. Encourage them to use Filipino words to describe the physical features they observe. This will pique their curiosity and engage them in the topic.

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes):
    • Greet the students and briefly explain the topic of the lesson: “Ngayon, ating pag-aaralan ang mga katangian pisikal ng ating daigdig.”
    • Show a picture of the Earth from space and ask the students to describe what they see using Filipino words.
    • Write down their responses on the board.
  2. Vocabulary Building (10 minutes):
    • Introduce and explain new Filipino vocabulary related to the physical characteristics of the Earth, such as bundok (mountain), talampas (plateau), lambak (valley), dagat (sea), ilog (river), at iba pa.
    • Provide examples and ask students to repeat the words after you.
    • Use visual aids or real-life pictures to help students understand the meanings of the words.
  3. Main Activity (20 minutes):
    • Divide the class into small groups.
    • Distribute a worksheet with a map of the Earth to each group.
    • Instruct the students to label and describe the physical features of the Earth in Filipino language using the vocabulary they have learned.
    • Encourage them to work collaboratively and discuss their answers within their group.
    • Monitor their progress and provide assistance when needed.
  4. Group Presentation (10 minutes):
    • Ask each group to present their labeled map and describe the physical features they have identified in Filipino language.
    • Encourage other students to ask questions or provide additional information about the physical features discussed.
  5. Summary and Closure (5 minutes):
    • Summarize the main points discussed during the lesson.
    • Ask the students to share one new thing they have learned about the physical characteristics of the Earth in Filipino language.
    • Provide positive feedback and encourage further exploration of the topic.
  6. Homework (optional):
    • Assign a short writing task where students have to describe their favorite physical feature of the Earth using Filipino language.
    • This will reinforce their understanding of the vocabulary and allow them to practice their writing skills.
