Introduction
Good morning/afternoon everyone, and welcome to our lesson on planning for intermediate carpenters. We are going to learn the importance of planning and how to create a plan from start to finish.
Today’s lesson is going to be a great opportunity to fine-tune our planning skills and see how we can make planning an easy part of our carpentry projects. This lesson is going to equip us with the skills we need to plan effectively and also show us how to maintain and modify a plan when things don’t go quite to plan.
Lesson Outline
- Understand the importance of planning for your projects
- Structure a plan for a carpentry project
- Learn how to outline tasks and calculate time/materials required
- Get tips to help make the planning process easier
- Look at how to trouble-shoot and modify plans when something goes wrong
Questioning
I’ll ask questions throughout the lesson so that we can make sure the learning outcome has been met.
Assessment
To assess what we’ve learned today, we’ll complete a practical assignment. This will be a carpentry project plan which you will create using the ideas and guidance provided.
Differentiation
If some of us find this task challenging, I’ll provide options to ensure everyone is able to participate in the assignment. Resources such as videos and worksheets will be available for those who require further help.
Plenary
To conclude, we’ll have a short discussion around the learning points from today. During this time, we can run through any problems that arose during the practical assignment and help each other to review our plans.
