Lesson Plan: Letter Kk - Kevin the Kangaroo and Katey the Kuala

Objective: - Students will learn to recognize and write the letter Kk. - Students will learn the sound of the letter Kk. - Students will be able to identify and form words that start with the letter Kk. - Students will understand the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully.

Materials: - Picture cards of Kevin the Kangaroo and Katey the Kuala - Large letter Kk cutout - Whiteboard and markers - Worksheets for letter formation - Kite craft materials (paper, string, sticks, markers, etc.) - Storybook: “Kevin and Katey’s Kite Adventure” - Online resources: - Video: “Letter K Song” - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vOPWkzXHk0 - Online game: “Letter Kk Matching Game” - https://www.learninggamesforkids.com/alphabet-games/letter-k-matching.html

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Greet the students and introduce the letter Kk. 2. Show the picture cards of Kevin the Kangaroo and Katey the Kuala. 3. Tell the students a short story about Kevin and Katey flying a kite and having a fight. 4. Ask the students questions to engage their attention: - Have you ever flown a kite? - What do you think Kevin and Katey fought about? - How do you think they can solve their problem?

Letter Sound Formation (10 minutes): 1. Play the “Letter K Song” video for the students. 2. Sing along and encourage the students to repeat the sound of the letter Kk. 3. Practice saying words that start with the letter Kk together (e.g., kite, kangaroo, key, etc.). 4. Show the large letter Kk cutout and explain its formation. 5. Demonstrate how to write the letter Kk on the whiteboard. 6. Give each student a worksheet and guide them to trace and write the letter Kk.

Words Body Formation (10 minutes): 1. Show the picture cards of Kevin and Katey again. 2. Ask the students to stand up and form the shape of the letter Kk with their bodies. 3. Call out words that start with the letter Kk, and have the students act them out using their bodies (e.g., kangaroo, kick, etc.).

Questioning (5 minutes): 1. Show the picture cards of Kevin and Katey once more. 2. Ask the students questions related to the story and the letter Kk: - What did Kevin and Katey fight about? - How do you think they felt after the fight? - What could they have done to solve their problem peacefully?

Assessment (5 minutes): 1. Distribute a worksheet with pictures of various objects. 2. Instruct the students to circle the objects that start with the letter Kk. 3. Observe and assess their ability to identify the correct objects.

Differentiation (10 minutes): 1. For students who need extra support, provide additional practice worksheets or one-on-one assistance during the letter formation activity. 2. For students who are more advanced, challenge them to come up with their own words that start with the letter Kk and write them on the whiteboard.

Plenary (5 minutes): 1. Recap the lesson by asking the students to share one word that starts with the letter Kk. 2. Discuss the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully, just like Kevin and Katey did in the story. 3. Conclude the lesson by praising the students’ efforts and participation.

Note: The timing for each section may vary depending on the pace of the class.
