Title: Racing with the Letter Rr

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes):

    • Ask students if they can think of any other words that start with the letter Rr.
  2. Race Preparation (10 minutes):
    • Divide the students into two teams: Team Rats and Team Rabbits.
    • Explain that they will participate in a race to pass the ring or rocket to their team members.
    • Assign a starting point and a finishing point for each team.
    • Place the ring or rocket at the starting point.
  3. Race Activity (15 minutes):
    • Instruct the students to line up behind the starting point.
    • Start the race and encourage the students to pass the ring or rocket to their team members as quickly as possible.
    • Time each team using a stopwatch or timer.
    • The winning team will be the first to pass the ring or rocket to the last student in line.
  4. Word Recognition and Sound Emphasis (10 minutes):
    • Show pictures or flashcards of words starting with the letter Rr (rat, rabbit, race, ring, rocket).
    • Ask students to identify the objects and emphasize the beginning sound of each word.
    • Repeat the words together, emphasizing the “rr” sound.
  5. Letter Formation Activity (10 minutes):
    • Distribute the large cutouts of the letter Rr to each student.
