- Chart paper with different text sources listed - Story books - YouTube videos

Procedure:

  1. Teacher explains the topic and introduces the lesson objective, “Today, we will learn how to listen and talk about text sources. We will discuss which sources we like, and why.”

  2. On the chart paper, teacher lists different text sources, such as “books, magazines, blogs, magazines, newspapers, YouTube videos, and social media posts”.

  3. Teacher selects a student to explain what a text source is. Student defines text source as “anything that contains written words or a combination of words and pictures that people use to communicate”.

  4. Teacher introduces the story books to the class and has the students share what they like about a particular text source.

  5. Teacher then introduces YouTube videos from Scotland and allows the students to explore and discuss which video they like and why.

  6. The teacher leads a discussion about text sources and encourages students to share their opinion and preferences on the given text sources.

  7. Teacher uses the assessment by asking students to answer a series of questions on their favorite text source and why they prefer it.

Closure:

The teacher reviews the lesson objective and encourages the students to practice their knowledge of text sources by discussing their opinions with friends and family. The teacher also encourages the students to always keep in mind the importance of actively listening to text sources and always remain true to their preferences.
