Lesson Plan Aim To experience a variety of simple texts, which may have been adapted for young learners, focusing on food and culture. Outcome By the end of the lesson, learners will have experienced a variety of simple texts adapting them to their own culture and be able to talk about how food is connected to their own culture and the culture of others.

Materials -Different food sample dishes from different cultures -Images or printed texts from primary sources about the culture and cuisine of different countries

Time 45 minutes

Procedure

  1. Introduction (5 minutes) - Teacher introduces the activity, giving the students an overview of what the activity will entail

  2. Research (10 minutes) - Teacher provides students with printed materials/images or invites native speakers of different cultures to talk about the cuisine and culture of their cultures

  3. Class discussion (10 minutes) - Teacher facilitates a discussion about the similarities and differences between the cultures and what the students have learned

  4. Formulation of questions (10 minutes) - Teacher challenges the students to come up with questions about food and culture that they want to explore further

  5. Writing a text (10 minutes) - Teacher challenges the students to write a short text in the language they are studying, adapting it to their own culture, incorporating information they have learned during the lesson

  6. Conclusion (5 minutes) - Teacher summaries the main points of the lesson, allowing each student to share their text with the class.

Assessment The teacher can assess the students based on their ability to discuss the differences between cultures and exchange their opinion, the creativity of their questions and the accuracy of their texts.
