Lesson Plan: Writing a Biography of Coco Chanel

Subject: Languages (Writing) Level: Third Level (Scottish Curriculum)

Desired Outcome: I can convey information, describe events, explain processes or concepts, and combine ideas in different ways.

Objective: - Students will be able to write a biography of Coco Chanel, conveying information, describing events, explaining processes or concepts, and combining ideas in different ways.

Materials: - Biography of Coco Chanel (printed or digital) - Writing materials (paper, pens, pencils, etc.) - Access to computers or tablets (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (10 minutes): a. Begin the lesson by asking students if they are familiar with Coco Chanel. Encourage a brief discussion about what they know or have heard about her. b. Introduce the topic of biography writing and explain that they will be writing a biography of Coco Chanel, a famous fashion designer. c. Share the desired outcome with the students: “By the end of this lesson, you will be able to convey information, describe events, explain processes or concepts, and combine ideas in different ways while writing a biography of Coco Chanel.”

  2. Background Information (10 minutes): a. Provide students with a brief overview of Coco Chanel’s life, highlighting key events and achievements. b. Distribute the biography of Coco Chanel to each student or display it on a screen for the whole class to read together. c. Encourage students to take notes or highlight important information as they read.

  3. Brainstorming (15 minutes): a. Divide the class into small groups or pairs. b. Provide each group with a large sheet of paper or a digital platform to record their ideas. c.
