Level: First Level

Subject: Languages (Gaelic)

Time: 60 minutes

Resources: Gaelic writing materials, Gaelic dictionaries, Gaelic grammar books, Gaelic spell check software, Gaelic language websites.

Introduction (10 minutes)

• Begin the lesson by introducing the topic of writing in Gaelic. Explain to the students that they will be learning how to use a variety of sources to help them check the accuracy of their Gaelic spelling and punctuation.
• Ask the students if they have any experience with writing in Gaelic. If so, ask them to share their experiences with the class.
• Explain to the students that writing in Gaelic can be challenging, but with the right tools and resources, it can be made easier.

Main Activity (40 minutes)

• Provide the students with Gaelic writing materials, such as paper and pens, and ask them to write a short paragraph in Gaelic about their favourite hobby or activity.
• Once the students have finished writing, ask them to use a variety of sources to check the accuracy of their Gaelic spelling and punctuation. These sources could include Gaelic dictionaries, Gaelic grammar books, Gaelic spell check software, and Gaelic language websites.
• Encourage the students to work in pairs or small groups to help each other check their work.
• Once the students have finished checking their work, ask them to share their paragraphs with the class. Encourage the students to discuss any challenges they faced while writing in Gaelic and how they overcame them.

Plenary (10 minutes)

• Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned during the lesson. Did they find the sources helpful in checking the accuracy of their Gaelic spelling and punctuation?
• Ask the students to share any tips or strategies they have learned for writing in Gaelic.
• Finally, remind the students that writing in Gaelic takes practice, and encourage them to continue practicing their Gaelic writing skills.

Assessment

• The students’ paragraphs will be assessed based on their accuracy of Gaelic spelling and punctuation.
