Materials: • Poems (multilingual) • Whiteboard/ Smartboard • Posters of Poetry Features
Procedure:

Introduction: Show the students a poem and have them look at it in groups and form a discussion. (5 minutes)

Explain Poetry Features: Give the students a poster of the poetry features. Explain each feature and why they are important (10 minutes)

Identify the Features: Show the students a poem and have them identify the features of the poem. (10 minutes)

Demonstration: Show the students an example of how to find the information in a poem for a specific purpose. (10 minutes)

Activities: Divide the students into groups and assign them each a poem to find information for a specific purpose. (15 minutes)

Conclusion: Have the students share their findings in the class and discuss. (10 minutes)
Assessment: The student will be assessed on their knowledge of the features of poetry, ability to identify and use information from a poem for a specific purpose.
