Lesson Plan: Fast Fashion and Conditional Grammar

Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to discuss the concept of fast fashion in Croatian using conditional grammar.

Warm-up (5 minutes): 1. Greet the students and ask them if they are familiar with the term “fast fashion.” 2. Show images of popular fast fashion brands and ask students if they recognize any of them. 3. Engage the students in a short discussion about their opinions on fast fashion. Encourage them to share their thoughts and experiences.
Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Introduce key vocabulary related to fast fashion, such as “moda,” “brza moda,” “odjeća,” “trend,” “potrošač,” “kvaliteta,” “trajnost,” etc. 2. Use visual aids and examples to help students understand the meaning and usage of each word. 3. Practice pronunciation of the new vocabulary together as a class.
Presentation of Conditional Grammar (15 minutes): 1. Introduce the concept of conditional grammar in Croatian, focusing on the conditional type 1 (real conditional). 2. Explain the structure and usage of conditional sentences using “ako” (if) and the present tense in the conditional clause, and the future tense in the main clause. 3. Provide examples of conditional sentences related to fast fashion, such as “Ako kupujem jeftinu odjeću, ona se brzo raspada” (If I buy cheap clothes, they quickly fall apart). 4. Use the whiteboard to write down the sentence structure and highlight the conditional and main clauses.
Grammar Practice (15 minutes): 1. Distribute handouts with grammar exercises related to conditional sentences and fast fashion. 2. In pairs or small groups, students should complete the exercises, focusing on forming correct conditional sentences. 3. Monitor the students’ progress and provide assistance as needed.
Discussion and Speaking Activity (15 minutes): 1. Divide the class into pairs or small groups. 2. Provide a list of discussion questions related to fast fashion and conditional sentences, such as: - Ako biste mogli promijeniti nešto u modnoj industriji, što biste promijenili? - Ako biste imali više novca, biste li kupovali više kvalitetne odjeće? - Ako biste bili modni dizajner, što biste dizajnirali? 3. Encourage students to use conditional sentences in their discussions. 4. Monitor the discussions and provide feedback on grammar usage and pronunciation.
