Lesson Plan: Comparing Adjectives and Adverbs

Introduction (5 minutes): 1. Greet the students and introduce the topic of the lesson: comparing adjectives and adverbs. 2. Ask the students if they know the difference between adjectives and adverbs. Allow for a brief discussion. 3. Explain that adjectives describe nouns, while adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. 4. Share the learning objectives for the lesson.
Lesson Outline (25 minutes): 1. Begin by writing a simple sentence on the board, such as “The dog runs fast.” 2. Ask the students to identify the adjective and the adverb in the sentence. Discuss their answers as a class. 3. Introduce the concept of comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs. 4. Explain that comparative forms are used to compare two things, while superlative forms are used to compare three or more things. 5. Provide examples of comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs on the board. 6. Engage the students in a discussion about the rules for forming comparative and superlative forms. 7. Show a video resource that further explains the concept of comparing adjectives and adverbs (see resources below). 8. Distribute worksheets to the students and allow them to practice identifying and using comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs.
Questioning and Assessment (10 minutes): 1.
