Lesson Plan: NCERT Hindi Chapter - 8 “Titli aur Phool”

Theme: Seeds to Plants

Objective: - To introduce students to the concept of seeds and their growth into plants. - To enhance students’ understanding of the Hindi vocabulary related to plants and nature. - To engage students in hands-on activities and a nature walk to observe and explore the growth of plants. - To develop students’ storytelling skills through a creative activity. - To assess students’ understanding of the chapter through a formative assessment.

Duration: 3-4 sessions (45 minutes each)

Materials Needed: - NCERT Hindi textbook - Chapter 8 “Titli aur Phool” - Pictures or real samples of seeds and plants - Chart paper and markers - Nature walk checklist - Storytelling props (optional) - Assessment sheets

Session 1: Introduction to Seeds and Plants (Vocabulary) 1. Begin the lesson by asking students if they know what a seed is and how it grows into a plant. Discuss their responses as a class. 2. Introduce the chapter “Titli aur Phool” and explain that it is about the life cycle of a butterfly and its connection to plants. 3. Present pictures or real samples of different seeds and plants. Discuss their names in Hindi and English, emphasizing the Hindi vocabulary related to plants. 4. Write the Hindi vocabulary words on the chart paper and explain their meanings. Encourage students to repeat the words after you. 5. Assign students a small homework task to find and bring different seeds from home for the next session.

Session 2: Hands-on Activities and Nature Walk 1. Begin the session by reviewing the Hindi vocabulary words related to plants from the previous session. 2. Conduct a hands-on activity where students plant the seeds they brought from home in small pots or cups filled with soil. Guide them on how to plant and care for the seeds. 3. Take students on a nature walk around the school garden or nearby park. Provide them with a checklist to observe and note down different plants, flowers, and trees they see. 4. Encourage students to ask questions and discuss their observations during the nature walk. Collect their observations for further discussion in the next session.

Session 3: Storytelling and Assessment 1. Begin the session by reviewing the observations made during the nature walk. Discuss the different plants and their characteristics. 2. Divide students into small groups and assign each group a different plant or flower observed during the nature walk. 3. In their groups, students create a short story or skit incorporating the plant or flower assigned to them. They can use props or drawings to enhance their storytelling. 4. Each group presents their story or skit to the class, using the Hindi vocabulary related to plants. 5. Conduct a formative assessment by asking students to individually write a short paragraph describing the life cycle of a butterfly and its connection to plants. 6. Assign relevant homework, such as drawing and labeling the different parts of a plant or writing a poem about plants in Hindi.

Note: The number of sessions and activities can be adjusted based on the available time and the pace of the students.
