Introduction: Good morning everyone! Today we’re going to be learning about proper nouns. Proper nouns are special types of words that name people, places, and things, such as London, John, and Apple. Does anyone know any more examples of proper nouns?

Lesson Outline: 1. Introduce proper nouns and review examples - 5 minutes 2. Explain when to use capital letters for proper nouns - 5 minutes 3. Check understanding by asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions - 5 minutes 4. Worksheet - 10 minutes 5. Group activity - 10 minutes

Questions: • What is a proper noun? • Can you name any examples? • Is your name a proper noun? • Does the name of your school begin with a capital letter?

Assessment: The teacher should assess the understanding of the students during the questioning session. The teacher could also provide feedback on the students’ worksheets and group activities.

Differentiation: For students who need more support, the teacher should provide additional examples of proper nouns to reinforce the concept. For students who need extra challenge, the teacher could ask the students to come up with examples of proper nouns without any prompts.

Plenary: To ensure the students have grasped the concept, the teacher could ask the students to name 3 examples of proper nouns.
